How to join

You need DayZ. You do not need to install anything by hand — the mods come down with the connection.

Direct connect
57.128.250.248:2302
Server name
[EU] BZA Chernarus 1PP | Vanilla+ | PaintMod
First wipe in

Friday 31 July, 19:00 CEST

The server goes down for the wipe itself and is back a few minutes later, around 19:05. You can join today — the server is live — but anything you build before Friday is cleared that evening, learned patterns included. Founder colours are the one thing that survives. For a full map and an even start on the founder race, that is the evening.

The quickest way

  1. Open the DayZ launcher

The one Steam opens when you press Play on DayZ.

  2. Servers → Direct connect

    Enter 57.128.250.248 and port 2302.

  3. Let it download the mods

The launcher subscribes you to what the server runs and starts the game. First time is about 150 MB, nearly all of it PaintMod's textures. After that it only pulls updates.

You can also find us in the in-game server browser. The full name in the list is [EU] BZA Chernarus 1PP | Vanilla+ | PaintMod; typing BZA Chernarus into the name filter is enough to find it. Same in the DZSA Launcher, which most modded-server players already have.

First person only. This is a 1PP server: third person is off. If you have never played 1PP, give it three sessions — it is a different game, and it is the reason people play Chernarus this way.

What loads with you

All five are pulled automatically. Only PaintMod adds anything to the world — its paint kits and pattern cans spawn as loot alongside the vanilla items. No vanilla loot table, weapon or armour stat is touched: paint is cosmetic.

ModWhat it is for
BZA PaintModOur own mod — weapon and gear painting. Guide.
Community Framework (CF)A shared library other mods build on. No gameplay of its own.
Autorun UpgradedNumpad + to auto-run. Stamina drains exactly as normal.
Ear PlugsTurns the volume down in-game, for voice chat over loud engines.
VPPAdminToolsAdmin tooling. Players have no access to it.

If something goes wrong

The server kicked me right after connecting

Almost always a version mismatch. The server checks that your PaintMod build matches its own and kicks anything else — otherwise you would see paint that is not there. Restart the DayZ Launcher so it picks up the mod update, then reconnect. We announce updates in Discord before they go out.

The Paint action does not appear on an item

Either that item is excluded by design, or the vanilla model has no paintable texture zone. The full list is on the weapons and gear page.

I painted something and nobody else can see it

Paint is applied and validated server-side and synced to everyone, so this should not happen. If it does, report it in #bug-reports with the item and roughly when — that is exactly the kind of thing we want to hear about.

I loaded PaintMod on another server and painting does nothing

Expected. The mod on the Workshop is only the client half; the part that validates and applies paint is private and runs only here.

Why is PaintMod 150 MB?

Because a stencil is a two-colour texture and the palette is deep, so the mod ships a pre-rendered tile for every base × accent pair — 10 810 of them, plus the camo tiles. That is the price of letting you pick both colours freely instead of offering a fixed dozen. It downloads once and updates incrementally after that.
